The Inspiration Behind Our Name
Alune is a name shaped by who we are and what we believe in.
The “A” brings us back to our school days, when we faced every challenge with dedication, striving for straight As. It captures the drive to trust ourselves, stay committed, and give our very best even when the path feels overwhelming.
"Lune" means moon in French and it carries the calm strength and soft glow we see in every girl. Like the moon, girls shine in gentle, steady ways—always present, always luminous, even when no one notices.
Together "Alune" reminds us to stay centered at our own growth, worry less about the outside pressures, and keep moving forward with steady confidence and heart.
Our Story
Alune Active was born under thousands of sunny skies in Los Angeles.
Two besties, one mission.
An Aquarius artist and dreamer.
A Leo engineer who loves numbers.
We met many years ago at a young age. Aquarius found comfort in sketching as a way to release negative energy, while Leo was obsessed with fitness, carrying an endless supply of optimism every day. One day, Leo thought, Why not share this positive energy with Aquarius? So we decided to try Pilates together. What started as a small habit soon became a lifelong love for this beautiful practice.
In 2023, we first stepped into Pilates studios with nothing but black-and-white grip socks. They felt simple, but also a little plain. Aquarius, full of imagination, thought to herself, what if the sketches in my notebook could live on socks? Wearing them to class would feel so much more fun and cute. That spark quickly turned into action, and after months of dreaming, designing, and testing, our very first grip sock was born: Pink Matcha.
We wore her to class and instantly felt motivated and happiness. Pink Matcha grip socks made our whole day brighter and happier. Still, there was no plan for Alune Active—until one morning, Leo wore Pink Matcha to a popular matcha café in Los Angeles. While sipping a matcha latte, she took a few photos and videos. Soon, several girls came over asking, “OMG! They are so cute! Where did you get those pilates socks?” Later, in Pilates and Lagree studios, more and more classmates started asking the same question.
But Pink Matcha was only the beginning. While Aquarius brought her creativity into Alune, Leo carried her own journey within. She had once struggled with anxiety, learning to encourage herself and slowly build confidence day by day. Through this growth, she realized how powerful mindset could be, and from this, the Mindset Series was born, carrying words of affirmation stitched into every pair.
Leo was beyond excited and deeply inspired. She encouraged Aquarius to start a business together, to design more cute socks and to share this happiness and love with the Pilates community all around the world. From planning to execution, building the website to launching our first collection, it took two full seasons—but the journey was worth every second.
Today, we are grateful that the love and energy we wanted to share are being seen and loved.
